Glass Column Packing

Raschig Rings are a popular choice for packing glass columns in various industrial applications. At Aarohi Scientific, we manufacture Raschig rings in Neutral Glass and Borosilicate 3.3 Glass, ensuring high-quality performance. Our Raschig rings come in a range of sizes:

  • Raschig rings up to 25mm (made from Neutral Glass, Borosilicate 3.3 Glass)
  • 40mm & 50mm Raschig Rings (available in Borosilicate 3.3 Glass)

These rings are ideal for use in glass distillation columns, reaction units, and other chemical processing equipment, providing excellent surface area for heat and mass transfer.

Benefits of Glass Column Packing

  • Low Bulk Density: Glass Raschig rings have a low bulk density, making them particularly effective for column packing in glass reactors and other similar setups.
  • High Durability: Our Raschig rings are made from high-quality Borosilicate 3.3 Glass, known for its excellent chemical resistance and high thermal stability.
  • Improved Efficiency: These packings provide optimal performance in gas-liquid separation, distillation, and other applications requiring efficient mass transfer.

Guidelines for Using Glass Column Packing

To ensure the best performance and avoid operational issues, follow these guidelines when using Raschig rings in your glass columns:

  • Column Diameter to Packing Size: The diameter of the column should be at least 8:1 larger than the diameter of the packing. This ensures optimal flow dynamics and packing efficiency.
  • Layering for Small Packing Sizes: For smaller packing sizes, it’s recommended to place a layer of larger packing at the bottom, preventing the smaller packing from falling through the packing support.
  • Preventing Damage in Vacuum and High-Vapour Velocity Applications: In vacuum or high-vapour velocity systems, packing may be displaced, potentially causing damage. To prevent this, install a PTFE perforated plate or packing retainer above the packed section to maintain stability.

Additional Column Packing Options

In addition to Raschig rings, we also offer Pall Rings and other packing solutions for glass columns, designed to enhance the efficiency and durability of your systems. These rings are ideal for applications that require enhanced gas-liquid contact, such as fractionation and distillation.

At Aarohi Scientific, we provide customized packing solutions tailored to your needs. Whether you require jacketed glass reactors, reaction units, or rotary evaporators, our glass packing solutions are designed to optimize your system’s performance and longevity.
